Peyton Manning...Tom Brady...

The number one quarterbacks in the NFL...how?

During the off season, thhe studied film and prepared. Thee replay the games and the plays and notices...what worked and what didn't.

So, Step Dads don't have an off season. And if we did, would you prepare?

But...

how do you prepare? How can you prepare?

Do you want one way to prepare? To save time?

ONE: Notice what you say to your step kids...take a mini recorder and record your talk for a day...and evening...an hour...

and notice the choice of words...the way you say it and what you are saying. Do you use embedded commands? Are the kids doing the opposite of what you you want them to do...

then it may be in how you are telling them.

Quick example...Don't think of a pink elephant. Come on, now, don't think of a pink elephant.

Did you think of a pink elephant...even though I told you not to think of one.

Have you ever heard this..."Don't cross the street..."

And the kiddo hears, 'Cross the street.'

Make is simple...say, "Lets play in the yard..." Get it?

Tape yourself talking to your kids. Notice what you are really saying...

and keep it simple. Listen and prepare.

Think of a red jaguar...

Isn't that easier....

Take it from the pros...prepare and play!

Notice and play....it's in the game!

Living it,

Emmett Pennington, Visionary Step Dad
